Blueknots Conference Room, Royal Palace, next afternoon

Guru Saum and Guru Draksh sat in front of each other on comfortable chairs, and between them sat a large designer wooden table. The table was filled with pastries, fruits, cakes and other breakfast items, but neither of them touched a thing. They patiently waited for the King to arrive, who had said he wanted to have a working breakfast with them in the afternoon. While the obvious mis-timing of the meal was not lost on them, neither of them wanted to offend the King. They just wanted to give their status update and leave.

After a few minutes, a sentry came in and announced the arrival of the King; both the Gurus got up and stood in respect.

Rukmin entered the room, smiling and dressed in an impeccable emerald suit with decorative golden jewelry, including the Quorlov-studded necklace. He dashed towards his chair at the corner of the table as two servants standing on the side scurried to put a plate in front of him and started serving him the first course.

He immediately gobbled the first food item put in his place and then noticed the two gurus. He signaled them to sit while he swallowed the food.

“Sorry I was famished. Slept very late.” Rukmin winked. “I see you two haven’t started yet. I wonder why no one served you.”

“It’s all right my King. I am not particularly hungry,” Saum responded.

“Same here, my King,” Draksh chimed in.

“Suit yourself.” Rukmin then snapped his finger and a butler came running.

The King thundered. “Where is my croc-egg omelet with wild-bee honey? I explicitly requested that to be on the menu today.”

The servant stuttered. “It’s … it’s on its way, my King. Being prepared freshly for you.”

“Off you go, you nincompoop!” Rukmin yelled. “And get me some scotch and roasted macadamia nuts.” He then looked at the gurus and calmed down. “My apologies; my kitchen and serving staff is the worst. So, we can start working while I am eating. The problem is that I have to address a press-conference in two days where I need to update the Senate, the media and the general public on what steps we are planning to take to counter this doomsday event.”

Draksh nervously coughed to clear his throat. He didn’t have a good update. “My warriors are getting ready, my King. Only yesterday one of my best warriors crushed a mountain on the surface of Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon. We chose Ganymede because it has a strong intrinsic magnetic field—”

“Oh, spare me the details, Guru Draksh. Get to the point. Are you ready or not?” Rukmin took a large bite of his freshly served omelet.

“It would take me three more months, my King and my warrior shall be ready. Our strategy is obviously to deflect the course of this Magnetar using a powerful electromagnetic weapon.”

“Oh God!” Rukmin yelled. “This has too much pepper.”

The server who stood at a distance came running.

Rukmin hurled his plate at the server, soiling his face with food and gravy.
